The Confucius Institute at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and development of Chinese language, culture, studies and business. It organizes and supports a broad spectrum of activities and seeks to serve as an information and meeting platform for all people interested in China and the Chinese language on a regional as well as supra-regional level.

The Confucius Institute at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has following major missions:

• Become a focal point for China-related teaching, research and other activities at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
• Forge strategic alliances with business, industry, government and other institutions with an interest in closer and more productive ties with China.
• Promote an awareness of contemporary China amongst the wider community.
• Offer innovative and flexible Chinese language learning courses for the general public.
• Hold the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK).
• Provide cross-cultural communication seminars and workshops for business, government and the general community.
• Enhance the teaching and learning skills of Chinese language teachers.
• Convene conferences, seminars and forums on issues relating to China.
• Host scholars, researchers and language teachers from China.
